This is another movie, Hope Hope and Hope till you have the last breath in your life., never give up and have a strong loving for the life and be best true to one's self.. truly inspiring stuff., so much to learn from this movie.. Masterpiece is a word too less to the strong thoughts this movie tries to carry to every viewer.. One of the movies I rate the best..

The Shawshank Redemption is an absolute must see movie. The internal message which one should take away from this movie is that one's body can be physically or metaphorically imprisoned, but no one person or thing can take away your hopes or dreams unless you let them. Fantastic movie!!!

To me this is the most graphic demonstration of the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. I have watched this movie several times and draw inspiration from it every time.

I first saw this movie in my high school Sociology class. When the movie was through, it left me with the feeling of awe. I was so moved my how Andy decieved the guards and his friends, but did not actually hurt his friend is any way. He did what he had to do, and went on with his life. This is a story of true determination and preserverance. I highly recommend it!

I love this movie because It gave me one of the best lines I can remember about friends and It always makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when they are together by the sea at the end of the movie.

"Sometimes it makes me sad though, Andy being gone, I have to remind myself that some birds are not meant to be caged, there feathers are just too bright and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up, does rejoice but still the place you live in is that much more drab and empty when there gone.
I guess I just miss my friend.

I love the foundation that Tim (Andy) gave those guys by his actions on their behalf. He gave them HOPE. The greatest of human emotions for men (and women) who are incarcerated.

This movie is not for those looking for a quick bit of ephoria. There are some hard parts that go along with the sometimes brutal things that ocurr in prison. But the lead character perserveers and the end is both suttle and exilerating -- no Walt Disney fluffy finish here.

Great movie!!
I work a state prison and was told I really needed to see this movie. The product was in great shape... did not skip or pause or anything... was like new. The movie was very good... would recommend for anyone wanting something of a real life in prison.

An amazing movie. Easily one of the best movies made during the 90s and definitely one of the top 'prison' movies of all-time. Pretty much everything about this movie works and works extremely well!

My ALL-TIME favorite movie!
I was sold on this movie over 10 years ago and it still way outshines anything else, especially any other prison movie. I have seen it through from "start to finish" at least 12 or more times plus bits and pieces I have caught while channel surfing. Nominated for 7 Academy Awards this movie has a produced real cult following..(just Google it!!) This DVD played smoothly right away with no extra codecs needed or anything else on my Windows 7 64 bit Acer laptop using the built-in Windows Media Player. That has not always been true for WMP in Vista and XP. Required codecs had to be purchased or pirated and that really stunk IMHO. I met Morgan Freeman in 2003 in Clarksdale,MS at an art gallery grand opening and thanked him for sharing his talent with the world. He was as regular a guy as you or I and a very cordial gentleman. He is also part owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club there in Clarksdale. A great talent and a great guy as comfortable to be around as an old shoe. This is the
- #1 BEST PRISON MOVIE EVER - There is some graphic violence , graphic language and potentially offensive homosexual content FYI Which is EXACTLY the way prison really is (I know.)

You will love this movie , you'll never tire of it, you'll gift it to your friends (like I have done)and you'll be riveted from the very opening scene. The ENTIRE cast is so well placed which includes Tim Robbins, the warden, head guard and all the convicts. See for yourself. I can also recommend the 2 DVD special edition for great cast interviews and behind the scenes cool stuff. This is a classic movie and a keeper 110%

What a wonderful movie. I like how it turns into a feel-good flick, but not until the very end. Well done IMO

Top 10 Movie
The Shawshank Redemption was easily one of the Top 10 movies of the 90s. Despite a fairly formulaic plot, based on a Stephen King book, it's still a great movie. People say that voiceovers are one of the ultimate cop-outs in movies. It allows the plot to advance without actual acting. But when Morgan Freeman is narrating, I'd watch a video about making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
