An open heart waiting to be read.
Review written by: Dana L. Kingsbury From Boulder, CO
The creation of and loss of human connection can move us, making us feel more alive than anything else. Through My Ears into My Soul allows any single person willing to take a journey into their souls, to relate on the deepest levels with the author, and connect with the sorrows that come when we lose a soulmate.
It's a life story that does not run away from the inevitable sadness of life's circumstances, but embraces it and shows its rawness. Before we can learn from the sadness, we have to feel it. This book allows just that. It's an open heart waiting to be read.
writing as healing
Review written by: Rebecca Brown From Clallam Bay, WA United States
Rebeccasreads recommends THROUGH MY EARS INTO MY SOUL as a heart-warming & frequently absorbing reminiscence about a woman of our times, memories & living an examined life.
Written more for the catharsis than for the involvement of the reader, THROUGH MY EARS INTO MY SOUL describes how we walk through the valleys of the shadows of death in our lives.
Intimate and moving autobiography
Review written by: Harold McFarland From Florida
With a cover that doesn't attract any attention and a title that likewise doesn't particularly attract any interest this is a book that defies anyone to find any reason to pick it up and read it. That is a tragedy. I reluctantly picked it up to read a chapter or two only because it was sent to me and I have a reputation of at least reading one chapter of all books sent for review no matter how bad.
My first impression could not have been more wrong. Instead of reading a chapter and putting it away I found that I couldn't put it down until I had finished. An autobiographical account of the shattered life of Christa Bissell and a joyous tribute to the triumph of love, it is deeply moving and draws the reader into her private life as a close friend. If I had missed this book I would have missed one of the best autobiographical books I read all year. Through My Ears Into My Soul is highly recommended.
An intimately candid and deftly written personal account
Review written by: Midwest Book Review From Oregon, WI USA
One of the most cathartic ways of dealing with grief and loss is to write about it. Through My Ears Into My Soul is the autobiographical story of Christa L. Bissell whose ordinary daily life was suddenly shattered by death leaving her in unexpected and unprepared for grief, shock, and isolation. This is the moving and ultimately inspiring story of a woman struggling through numerous losses and finally coming to embrace the return of life's sweet blessings. With her invaluable and hard won insights into profound sorrow, and the personal growth and enhanced compassion that can be a legacy of tragedy, Through My Ears Into My Soul is an intimately candid and deftly written personal account that is especially commended to the attention of anyone having to comprehend the grieving process of a loved one or friend.
A tribute to enduring love
Review written by: Kelli J F Shew From Ithaca, NY United States
This is a story of life, love, and survival. It's presented in the first person which makes it personal and interesting... following someone's life and thoughts, Christa invites us in to her heart. She shares emotions and mind connections that join us all as we go through lives unexpected heartaches and staggering moments of sorrow.
It's a love story that goes beyond fictional fairytales and enriches to a higher level of real undying spirit and love.
A beautiful, yet heartbreaking story. It touches the very deepest of humankind.
